Photo of Apostle Gary Lee I am often called the “founder” of Spirit & Truth Worship Center. But I don’t agree with that title. I can’t be the founder of something that God has already established. What I am is a man whom God has graced with the honor of shepherding the wonderful saints at Spirit and Truth. And I am honored to walk under that mantle.

My journey began on Aug. 17, 1992 when I said “I do” to Jesus Christ and officially became an earthly ambassador for the Kingdom of Heaven. I had just migrated from New York to North Carolina - filled with hope and desperate for change. I did not know at that time what I was searching for, but God met me where I was and He changed my life forever. Still after 28 years, I recall it like it was yesterday. On that fateful day, I repented, I was converted, and my sins were completely blotted out. A refreshing immediately poured over me from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:19)

It is one thing to acknowledge Jesus Christ. But it’s completely different when you are filled with His Holy Spirit. A conversion takes place, and all things become new in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:17) When I moved to North Carolina, God not only converted me, He helped me establish a firm foundation. On Dec. 6, 1997, I married my beautiful wife, Sheila, and since then we have been blessed with two wonderfully-gifted children: Jair and Jasira. Being able to parent them has been a tremendous honor and blessing.

Photo of Apostle Gary Lee Wife and DaughterGod has helped direct my career path as well. I have secured an Associate’s Degree from Pitt Community College, as well as an undergraduate degree and a Graduate Certificate from East Carolina University (ECU). I am currently enrolled at Wake Forest University where I am pursing a master’s degree in Critical Mental Health Counseling.

Currently, I work as a substance abuse counselor. This is my ministry. Being both a counselor and a pastor give me the unique ability to bridge the gaps between patients’ mental, clinical and spiritual well-being. Oftentimes, their struggles are the result of a lack of connectivity with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I have experienced great success helping them establish that connection.

Overall, my life is proof that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Once you completely surrender to Him, He will direct your path.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our site. I hope you will visit our church as well. In the meantime, I pray that God richly blesses you and that heaven shines upon you.
